Take note of our tips on how to clean the different types of textiles and forget about spoiling your favorite clothes.

Cotton is one of the most used materials to make clothes, towels, kitchen towels, tablecloths, etc. It is a resistant material, not very elastic and prone to wrinkles. Although its cleaning is not too complicated, it is not always washed properly.

Types of Textiles

It is important that we look at the labels of the garments to confirm that their composition is 100% cotton. In this case, the garments can be washed both in cold water and in hot water. But remember, to prevent your cotton garments from shrinking or losing their color it is better not to exceed 30 degrees of temperature.

Despite being a wrinkle prone textile, its ironing is quite easy. It is convenient to iron the garment at high temperatures; also if we use a steam iron we will obtain an unbeatable result.

It is a very delicate fabric, so for cleaning we will always follow the instructions on the label.

Most washing machines include a special washing program for wool garments that does not use spinning. But if your washing machine does not have this special program, remember to always wash the clothes with warm water, always below 30 degrees, and with an exclusive detergent for wool.

If you are afraid that the garment will be damaged in the washing machine, you can choose to wash it by hand with a little warm water and soap. Once clean, remember not to use the dryer!

As wool does not tend to wrinkle too much, sometimes it is not necessary to iron the garments. But if you want to do it, use a low temperature and always iron from the inside of the clothes.

Polyester and Nylon

Both are synthetic resistant, durable and easy to wash fabrics. Usually they are mixed with natural fibers so the care of the garment is easier.

To wash this type of fabric we will use warm water, since the cold water will not eliminate the stains o the polyester and the hot water can make the clothes shrink or fade. We will also use a softener, so we will prevent the lint from other garments to get stuck to polyester or nylon.

If the clothes are hanging immediately after washing, you may not need to iron them. In addition, nylon is a material that dries quite fast.

In case the garment is wrinkled iron at low temperature.

Linen and silk

Linen is a very resistant textile, therefore, just like cotton; it can be washed in the washing machine with hot water and centrifuged.

This material wrinkles quite easily. To make the ironing easier, the garment must still be wet and we will use high temperature.

Regarding the cleaning of the silk, it is better to follow the instructions of the manufacturer, since it is a very delicate material. Although we should know that silk garments do not need to be ironed

We hope that these tips on how to clean different types of textiles have helped you. Always remember to read the label of the clothes and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, so you will successfully keep your favorite clothes correctly. See you soon!
